A short film discussing gender identity, surveillance, heteronormativity, subjectivity formation and power as well as opportunities for resistance. The film features 3 interviews with academics (Gail Lewis, Amber Jacobs and Bartek Dziadosz), an urban observation of surveillance mechanisms and agents and a self reflexive account of psychosocial processes of existing in the socio political climate at present. The project aims to cross boundaries of academic and activist work and uses film as platform.
What is Psychosocial Studies? How did we come up with the idea of starting the Psychosocial Thinkers initiative? What brought us together, what kept us together and where did the collective learning and growth occur? We are trying to tackle some of these questions in a few brainstorming conversations in our first video.
A moving film in which the anonymous central character describes the harrowing details of life with an eating disorder. L has suffered this condition for many years, and reveals what brought her to this point, along with her hopes and dreams for a brighter future. As well as L's articulate, emotional account, professional experts discuss the reality of life for the many thousands who endure eating disorders.
